Jenn Louis

 

 

After graduating with a Liberal Arts degree from Pitzer College in Claremont California, Chef Jenn Louis decided it was time to start cooking. After college Jenn took a job as a cook for the Outward Bound Schools based in North Carolina. Jenn cooked for everyone living on the remote base camp. Working with limited supplies, she creatively fed crowds of hungry Outward Bound employees. Her food was a hit because she was able to utilize her simple cast of ingredients in the most delicious way possible.

But one can’t stay in the woods forever, and Jenn was ready for the creature comforts of a soft bed and indoor plumbing, and so she returned to the West Coast and enrolled in the Western Culinary Institute in Portland. After graduating, she put her talents and passion to work, cooking for many years at several of Portland’s premier restaurants such as Wildwood Restaurant and Bar.

In 2000 Jenn decided to leave restaurants and start her own business, launching Culinary Artistry, which specializes in full-service catering. The focus of her business was simple, reflecting her years of experience in restaurants and in the woods: create menus that are simple and true to the host of ingredients available each season. Culinary Artistry draws from a community of specialty purveyors and local farmers, and her professional staff delivers an event that is anchored by elegant and thoughtful service. It’s not all that different from what she was doing in the woods, but now she has luxuries of fine linens, specialty ingredients and stemware.
