Andre Pianucci
Chef Andre Pianucci was born in Brazil to a Brazilian mother and Italian father. Growing up, Andre learned to cook a wide variety of dishes from home style Brazilian to traditional Italian cuisines. His passion for food led him to cooking school in New York where he learned techniques and recipes from all around the world. Graduating top of his class, Chef Pianucci worked in Switzerland, New York, Miami and more. While working in Miami, the gnocchi that he made every day was voted the best gnocchi in Miami by the Miami Herald.
Some years later, Andre’s partner was offered a job in Portland. Excited about the new experience they moved to the Pacific Northwest. It was a perfect match for Andre; his passion for fresh ingredients and simple world cuisine are the perfect complement for the Pacific Northwest. “I love the fresh, natural ingredients that are available here. The flavors definitely seem stronger and the freshness comes through when you cook with good ingredients” Chef Andre says. “Portland cuisine is world class and is a blend of foods from around the world.”
Today Chef Andre Pianucci works as chef for not-for-profits and is changing the way that preschool students eat. Kids in his preschool programs eat snacks and lunch based on national guidelines but everything is made from scratch. The kids enjoy the fresh foods and the parents like that everything is fresh and not full of preservatives.
He also teaches a variety of wonderful cooking classes for In Good Taste.
Chef Pianucci has a backyard garden and grows many of his own vegetables and herbs—the ultimate in freshness.
